Mandy Weis was born in and spent her early years New York City, but considers Montclair, New Jersey her hometown. After meeting her (now) husband in 2010, she spent 2 years bouncing back and forth between the US and Germany before they got married. She officially moved to Bamberg to join her German husband in March of 2013. Mandy worked in Human Resources for 13 years in the US. She is currently enrolled in German B1 plus Profession school full time. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, meeting up with friends, going for long walks and bike rides with her husband, and enjoying the many cultural events Bamberg has to offer!
Michaela
has been living in Nurnberg since July 2013. She is originally from Yorkshire,
UK and previous to Germany was living and working in Japan for nearly 6 years.
As well as volunteering for HENhaus, she is currently a full time Mummy!
Michaela
is very aware of how important it is for newcomers to be connected with other
people who are in similar, or have been in similar situations themselves. She
therefore gains a lot from being on the leadership team; answering newcomer
welcome emails and co-ordinating meet and greet opportunities. Michaela finds
it a very fulfilling way to spend some of her free time – knowing that she has
more than likely had a positive effect, on what can be a very difficult time, in
someone’s life. HENhaus and CHICKhaus helped her to quickly integrate and
become settled here and now she says it is time for her to give something
back!
Becky has found HENhaus to be an excellent forum for meeting others, sharing interests, supporting new mums, and getting answers to those essential questions when living abroad. In particular, the expat playgroups have been a fantastic way to meet other mums (and dads).
Becky co-ordinates stork squads - a fantastic 'helping hand' providing meals for new mums far from home.
Becky is from the UK and moved to Germany 5 years ago. She now has two
young boys who keep her busy!
Becky was a Primary school teacher in the UK and now teaches at home as well as running messy play sessions for babies!
